Are any good companies buying back their own shares?
Buybacks are a great source of controversy in the investment community – some, like me take a generally positive view, while others tend to be more sceptical.
Let’s put that question to one side for a minute and consider the companies which are actually doing buybacks on the London Stock Exchange right now. I want to know if there are any quality companies buying back their own shares at reasonable valuations.
Why do I care? Simple: the combination of a reduced share count and rising profitability can do extraordinary things for future earnings per share. In the ideal scenario, it means extraordinary shareholder returns. Let’s investigate.
